Zimmer MedizinSystems Cryo 6: State-Of-The-Art Zimmer Chiller
The Zimmer Medizin Cryo 6 has the ability of delivering -30C air to a treatment site during a laser session. The Cryo 6 converts ambient room air to a therapeutically effective degree (-30C) by using an internal closed-loop refrigeration system. The Zimmer MedizinSystems Cryo 6 pulls in ambient room air through the filter located on the back of the unit. The filter has a sensor that is screwed onto the back of the filter, that provides notice when the operator should initiate maintenance(recommended to vacuum filter weekly). The ambient room air that is pulled through the dust filter is forced into an evaporator, where it is then refrigerated and forced out through the Cryo 6 Hose to the treatment site. The air pulled into the therapy fan is not used to cool the device itself. The Cryo 6 Therapy Fan has nine adjustable settings that can be easily changed from one setting to the next. The Zimmer MedzinSysteme Cryo 6 is operated by a touch keypad that is mounted behind a glass plate and LCD display. Most of the device performance is controlled by a CPU/ Power Board located behind the Zimmer MedizinSysteme Cryo 6 top cover. This printed-circuit board consists of the controller and power unit along with the Cryo 6 power supply. The functions of the printed-circuit board include a self-test on start-up, monitoring of limit values of critical components, including temperatures, control of function status and monitoring of supply values. The analog hardware consists of a mains power and output unit, motor controller, display and input components and temperature sensors.
The Cryo 6 laser cooling system primarily consists of an evaporator, condenser, condenser fan, compressor, security pressure mechanisms, expansion valve, 507 refrigerant, filter, sensors, cpu and power board. Numerous hardware and software features have been installed into the Cryo 6 to insure patient and user safety. The Cryo 6 requires no consumables, as it only needs ambient room air and electricity to operate.
Insure a minimum of 2 feet of free space behind the Cryo 6 for good air circulation, and do not turn on the unit for at least 30 minutes after the unit has been transported. The Cryo 6 from time to time may require defrosting, especially when air flow has been compromised or if the treatment room becomes too humid. You are required to remove the condensed water from the condensation collector located on the front, bottom portion of the Cryo 6 cooler. The Zimmer MedizinSystems Chiller units all have a condensation collector that collects condensate. In addition to removing the water collected from the condensation collector, all Zimmer MedizinSysteme Chiller owners will be required to clean the filter, located on the back of the units, every 150 hours of operation. Cleaning the filter every week is strongly recommended. You don’t need to remove the filter but take a hand held vacuum and gently vacuum over this filter. Not maintaining your Zimmer Medizin Cooler unit will prevent optimum operation and function.
