If you notice the stream of air isn’t blowing as great as it use to, you might want to check your hose for blockages, holes inside the tube, or compression points. The Cryo 5 operator can check for air leaks by gently running their hand over the entire length of the hose while the therapy fan is on. Therapeutic chilled air should only be delivered out through the distal end of the hose, not elsewhere. If you feel air releasing somewhere along the hose, you probably have an air leak. Frosting or visible freeze points may develop. Compression points my obstruct normal air flow from the Cryo 5 unit to the distal end of the Cryo 5 hose. Compression points may have developed from continuous wear and use of the hose, or by accidentally stepping on or rolling over the hose.
If the Zimmer Chiller operator has determined no therapeutic air is blowing out from the treatment tube or the stream of air is not as strong, he/ she may want to disconnect the Cryo 5 hose from the unit and blow through it to check for holes, blockages, or compression points. Compression points, holes inside the tube, and/ or blockages effect the performance of the Cryo 5 unit, and reduce the amount of air volume reaching a treatment site during Cryo use. You will need to replace the Zimmer Cryo 5 Hose if a hole, blockage, or compression point is determined.
The Cryo 5 Hose is specifically designed for the Cryo 5 unit. The Cryo 6 Hose is specifically designed for the Cryo 6 chiller, this is the same for the Cryo Mini cooler. You can’t use any other Zimmer Cryo Hose for the Cryo 5 unit except the Cryo 5 Hose. Certain laser manufacturers make their own Cryo Hoses, we sell the standard Zimmer MedizinSystems Cryo Hoses that fit the Cryo 5 units.
